We have parted ways with Comics Illustrated and are no longer writing our monthly cosplay column for them. We also will no longer be promoting CI or their associated indie comics label, Divinity Comics. Unfortunately, this was an ugly parting that happened after the owner, Mike Wheeler, made a post about how he would proudly do business with someone wearing a shirt sporting the slogan “your body, my choice” and how he would happily sign the shirt too. Crayle politely pointed out that the slogan was a pro-rape slogan and thus could be seen as a threat and Mike proceeded to mock and belittle her.
Kelly eventually weighed in to defend Crayle after we’d privately decided to quit but hadn’t decided exactly how to deliver the news. Kelly’s response… wasn’t well received, and Mike decided to call her a “delusional Liberal twat.”

Our cosplay column for Comics Illustrated was something that we were doing pro-bono because we love cosplay and were happy to create a little corner of positivity online wherever we could carve out a little space, but we have no interest in working with anyone who promotes or supports rape culture in any way, shape or form. We don’t see this as a partisan or political argument or even a gender discussion (because men can be victims too, and women can be perpetrators) and this is simply a matter of human rights.
If standing against rape makes Kelly a liberal twat, then she’ll proudly wear that label. If us being against rape culture makes you uncomfortable, you are welcome to exit stage right.
And if you are a fellow Liberal Twat and want to show your pride, you can now get this shirt from Victory Born Cosplay!
It might take us a little while to remove all links to CI from this site as we go all out when we cross-promote, so bear with us as we take out the trash…
